Our Function in the World Crisis

We are living at a time when humankind can choose the understanding that we are not human beings having a human experience, but rather, we are spiritual beings, having a human experience. This human experience is a state or stage of consciousness on a material and mental level based on what is known through the five physical senses: seeing, hearing, tasting, touching, and smelling. This is limiting because the belief is this is the only reality of life there is. From this three-dimensional level, the mind experiences the world as fragmented and dualistic where everything is separate and the focus is on power struggles and self-preservation in order to protect our human concepts of what constitutes our good.
    However, we are hearing more every day about the prophecies made by ancient societies and echoed by modern day mystics. They have our attention as they are telling us we are much more than five different finite facets of consciousness. They say we are at a critical stage in our evolution and the time is Now to awaken to the enlightened state of fifth dimensional consciousness and sustain it in daily life.

If you pay attention to world affairs and the growing warnings about planetary change – both mainstream and metaphysical – you are aware of the fact there are some major problems facing us, some of which could result in the end of this particular civilization or even our planet; and there seem to be no solutions. Whether it is another world war, an economic disaster, or some other kind, which could plunge the globe into chaos, the world situation is critical.
     It is times like these, when the conditions seem humanly insurmountable, either in world conditions and circumstances, or in our individual lives when no solution can be found that many people are driven to find a spiritual solution.
    Some people think they should take a spiritual stand for the world and make its demonstration. But our prayer is not that the world follows some predetermined course of action, which we have decided is the right one, but that our consciousness evolves in order that brotherly love may be established in the hearts and souls and minds of peoples and governments all over the world.
    In political life, we recognize there is a great deficiency of spiritual love. Politicians easily pay lip-service to spiritual principles, such as freedom and equality, but instead of preserving these through a course of action, their focus is on vote counting and expediency.
     Despite this, in the secrecy and sanctity of our homes, you and I can dedicate ourselves to spiritual revelation. Our attitude is that there be neither good humanhood nor bad humanhood, but that the activity of the higher spiritual consciousness dispel material sense and be released into our individual consciousness to introduce the reign of love – not what is humanly right or humanly wrong, not by praying for your side or for my side, or for saving your own life, or to protect your material possessions, but the spiritual, fifth-dimensional Consciousness of Oneness.
   So far as the world is concerned, it must continue to work out its problems in whatever way it seems led, but our function is to be a spiritual underground for the operation of spiritual Consciousness. We must remember that nothing is taking place except what is taking place in our consciousness. If we are functioning negatively, negative things are happening; but if we are functioning spiritually, spiritual things unfold into our experience.
    Spiritual Consciousness has to function through your consciousness or my consciousness if our family, community, or nation is to be benefited. Each of us is a tiny thread in the world’s scheme, a strand in this great spiritual rope. We cannot wait for somebody else to open to this spiritual activity. We have to accept our responsibility because each one of us is an instrument for that activity.
    There is no use indulging in vain hopes that “God” is going to enter this world and stop wars, depressions, or overcome our problems and troubles. God, Spirit, Presence, Consciousness, Invisible All – whatever the name – enters the world only through our consciousness. Only when spiritual Consciousness is centred in and through individual consciousness does it makes its appearance on earth for the benefit of the world. 

A Change of Consciousness Can Solve World Problems
    Our individual consciousness is important to the safety and security and the peace of this world. In the degree that our consciousness holds within it no animosity, bigotry, hate or jealousy, and is willing for the enemy as well as the friend to prosper, it becomes a centre for the activity of spiritual Consciousness.
    If we continue living our human lives only for ourselves or our families, we perpetuate the evils of the world. If we permit our minds to be filled only with human thoughts, human desires, and human ambitions, we block and keep out spiritual Consciousness from our community, nation, and world. Again, let me remind you of this great truth: Spiritual Consciousness has entrance into the world only through individual consciousness, and It raises up those of spiritual enlightenment.
    Let us accept the responsibility that our consciousness is either being a blank or being destructive to the world, or being spiritually constructive. We determine that by the degree to which we open ourselves to spiritual truth.
    It would be helpful if all of us who read this writing would participate in periods of meditation, at least three times a day, in which we do not concern ourselves with our own health or wealth or that of our family or nation, but which our sole function is to realize the presence and power of spiritual Consciousness. We sit in quietness and peace, waiting patiently for the feeling of the Presence. When this occurs, we will know It is loosed into the world, thereby destroying material sense and establishing Oneness on earth.
    It is said in Scripture that if there be ten righteous men in the city, the city will be saved. The very moment we release humankind from condemnation, we help release the world from fear. As we realize the true nature of individual being and release every individual in the realization of spiritual Consciousness as his/her true being, every individual’s consciousness within our orbit is also raised up. Thus war becomes an impossibility. True, there will always be differences of opinion, for we are all at different states and stages of consciousness, and each one is entitled to his/her own opinions and to his/her own unfoldment.
